Skating, sledding, and magical lights on the lake are all part of free family fun during Big Winter. Enjoy the Big Whoop, Little Winter, Snowboot Soccer, and a trek to Adventure Island, then warm up with hot chocolate around the camp fires. Exclusive to this event is ‘Bark in the Dark’, an LED light party for dog lovers.Winter Light’s brand new festival, Big Winter, explores beautiful Jackie Parker Park for two days of reeaallllly big fun!
For two action packed days, Winter Light offers free snow recreation, music, special events, park adventures and delicious hot chocolate! During the day, enjoy sledding on The Big Whoop, Snow Boot Soccer, and skating.
In the evening, enjoy a special walk in the park - lit by magical lanterns. All events are free and family friendly. Dress warmly!
(*Note: Fri Feb 26 is a day-off school for many students in Edmonton and Big Winter has great activities to keep them busy!)

EVENING (Fri & Sat, 6:30 – 9 pm) Adventure Walk - a delightful lantern-lit walk through the woods to the firefly meadow.
SPECIAL EVENTS (Fri, 6:30 – 8 pm) Bark in the Dark (south side of park)  Light up your puppy for a special LED dog parade! Bring a glow-collar for your pet, or buy a Winter Light LED on-site. Then enjoy the visual experience of a mass-light movement - courtesy of our canine pals! The event will be videotaped and posted on YouTube! (Post your own video/image captures and send us a link – best images will win a prize!) Parade logistics will be led by our friends at Dogspaw Ltd. Special feature - agility demonstrations by K9 Korruption. Note - Bark in the Dark is an On-Leash event. (See complete details CLICK HERE) SAT (6:30 – 8:30) Low Flying Planes Enjoy the campfire charms of Low Flying Planes, the musical duo of Lynett McKell and Megan Kemshead. The pair has been touching down at cafes, folk festivals, pubs and of course late night campfires across Western Canada, winning fans and frequent flyer miles along the way. The Low Flying Planes' sweet vocal harmonies soar above their toe-tapping folk-gypsy music, with original songs that are full of heart, soul and down-home humour.
