Edmonton is home to many special people - Winter Light invites you and your family for a great day of family celebration and fun!

WHAT’S HAPPENING?

All Day   12 - 4 pm   CHURCHILL SQUARE & CITY HALL

HORSE WAGON RIDES

Enjoy the experience of a horse drawn wagon ride around Edmonton’s City Hall.  (Note *Last ride boards at 3:45 pm*)

SKATING

If you’ve never skated – or it’s been awhile – this is a great chance to take a spin around the ice in front of City Hall!  Free skate rentals, all ages.

HERTIAGE TIPI

Discover the winter skills and culture of Canada’s Aboriginal people - how to survive and enjoy life in northern climate.

What’s a winter celebration without warm bannock? Make your own over the fire. Another great River Valley Program!

SHARE THE WARMTH

With your help, Winter Light gathers and distributes winter supplies to those in need. Coats, socks, hats and gloves for all ages are appreciated.

PLAYDAYS CANADA

Play adventures and active fun! PlayDays Canada is about the hosting of a special event that provides unique and playful opportunities for children both here at home - and around the world.

WELCOME TENT

Warm up in the Welcome Tent, find out what’s going on, and enjoy Winter Light’s famous hot chocolate, and pick up a free souvenir Winter Light Calendar. The Welcome tent is HQ for public information, first aid, and feedback. Leave a comment (or a twoonie) and get a free sticker!

ROVING CHARACTER

Got issues? Get support from the Queen of Rationalization! She can help make it all seem okay. A hilarious and helpful character by Heather D. Swain.

  Here’s a show that really swings!  Thrill at the graceful airborne acrobatics of the amazing Fuzz Fly Circus and enjoy the global sounds and rhythms of hometown music stars Le Fuzz – two greats acts, together!

Family Day Flag Parade with Memi von Gaza
  People from all over Edmonton were invited to paint flags on the theme of family and the ways we all play a part in our community. The Flag Project comes together in a colourful Parade from City Hall to Churchill Square, where the flags will be displayed.
