780.497.1164 | | Baba Yaga Trail Adventure January 22 & 23 2 – 9 pm Snow Valley & Whitemud Park South The Baba Yaga Trail Adventure integrates art, recreation, theatre and light installations to create a magical night walk in beautiful Whitemud Park. Based on an ancient folk tale, the adventure recreates the journey of a young woman named Vasilissa who is sent into the forest by her wicked stepsisters to get fire from the witch Baba Yaga, who lives in a house on chicken legs. Along the way she encounters 3 horseman and many strange sights… will she complete her journey? The Baba Yaga Adventure is best experienced in the evening, but the Whitemud Park is gorgeous at any time. During the daylight hours there is lots to see and do at the Winter Camp, which is home base to explore snow recreation including Zipfy sledding, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, and new this year – a biathlon shooting range and high angle ascent demos! And the Winter Camp is always the best place to gather around warm campfires for music, performances and free hot chocolate. Nearby at Snow Valley, our host partner, you can check out their great skiing and snowboarding. Friday is a PD for much of the city, so treat the kids to Snow Valley’s amazing Friday Special - from 5 – 9 pm, with a donation for the Food Bank, it’s just $5 for affordable snow hill thrills! www.snowvalley.ab.ca 780.434.3991 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS DURING THE DAY (Friday and Saturday 2 -6pm) Winter Light Camp: Fires, hot chocolate, Zipfy sledding, snowshoeing. SHARE THE WARMTH A WARM WINTER FOR EVERYONE donations accepted at all festival venues & winter light hq (9654 jasper ave.) We're lucky to be enjoying winter - bundled up and close to the fire. But winter can be hard, and everyone should be safe and comfortable. Share the Warmth is a campaign to redistribute warm socks, mittens, parkas, scarves and toques to people in need, and to agencies that serve the inner city community. Items should be clean and warm. Wool socks are particularly useful. Family items as well as adult sizes are welcome. Recreation clothing and helmets are especially appreciated for our events at ski hills. Donations for Share the Warmth will be accepted at the Winter Light office, our festival sites, and at Snow Valley. And of course, most agencies will accept donations directly. Give them a call and see if you can help. Thank you- and stay warm! MORE FUN STUFF Watch the Winter Light TV Commercials on CityTV, OMNI, and CTV!
