WINTER LIGHT 2012
ABOUT WINTER LIGHT The Edmonton Winter Light Society is a new provincial non-profit organization founded with the goal to continue the successful initiatives of 3-year ‘Winter Light’ pilot project, originally supported by the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Arts Council.
The Society is pleased to announce it will be producing two festival events in 2012:
Mill Creek Adventure Walk Jan 27 & 28, 2012, Mill Creek Park a mysterious journey through a snowy winter wonderland
Illuminations Feb 10 & Feb 11, 2012, Louise McKinney Park a firey circus spectacle for the year of the dragon
Background – As a pilot-project supported by the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Arts Council, ‘Winter Light’ produced 26 unique winter festivals from 2009 – 2011. The project also worked closely with the existing winter festival community, and conducted a broad communications campaign about festivals and winter lifestyle in Edmonton.
Upon completion of the 3-year pilot-project, a community based non-profit society was formed to continue producing and developing some of the project’s most successful festival initiatives.
