Just when you thought the holiday festivities were over, along comes Deep Freeze to provide some serious winter cheer! Alberta Avenue will be the home to family activities including an enchanted ice and snow garden, outdoor curling, free hay rides, broom ball and snowshoeing, snow sculpting workshops, indoor art experiences, ancient music, delicious food - and more!

The centerpiece of the festival features the Sculptors’ Society of Alberta's “one block challenge” ice sculpture competition. Starting in the am, ice sculptors will rev up their chainsaws, hone their chisels and transform blocks of ice into beautiful pieces of art. The top three winners will be announced that evening and the display will remain on the Avenue for public viewing throughout the week. Local artists will create a large ice sculpture to stand as a backdrop for the sculpture competition.

New this year are all the Winter Light Warming Tents, the "Melt the Deep Freeze Dance" with Tilo Paiz and America Rosa on Saturday evening - which includes wonderful El Salvadorian food!

All activities are FREE and are scheduled to run throughout the day in and around the Alberta Avenue community hall at 9210-118th Avenue.
